The right fit

Something got me thinking… What is it exactly to fit in?
Is it a phase that you have to go through or is it something that comes around?

Like the infamous ‘bell-bottoms’; which were a rage in the good old days for men and women alike. Then came our generation that kind of got skinnier, at least when it came to pants. But then again now, bell-bottoms are making a comeback, as ‘palazzo pants’. Aesthetically they are the same, just more appealing thanks to their patterns. A lot of this stuff is making a comeback, the baby doll cut, the frocks, the maxi dresses, the high waists, etc. It got me thinking, what if my mom would have held on to her clothes when she was my age? They came back around, so wouldn’t they be cute and vintage for me?

This was about clothes. But does this work on people too? If you are serious type from a very young age, while others around you are the crazy fun loving type, should you be trying to blend in or should you be holding on to what you are till that phase comes around for everyone? Individuality is a good thing, but it is also confusing. It makes you an outcast, someone who can’t relate to everyone, in a layman’s term, a ‘loner’.

The question remains, does everyone have the same amount of phases that they go through? The only difference here would be the time for which a certain person is in that phase. Is it a vicious circle? What goes around comes back around?

Is fitting in a matter of time? A matter of today or tomorrow? A matter of then and now? A matter of just holding on till the circle restarts? Is fitting in a natural thing owing to the change in time?
